What will we see each day?

Our itineraries are designed to be not too full - or too empty! Each day we'll have breakfast at our hotel, followed by the day's activities. In the evenings, you'll have the opportunity to join the devotional time. Enjoy browsing the proposed itinerary. Back to top

Day 1: Overnight Flight
Our journey begins with our flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Prague, Czech Republic. If you would like to arrive early, we are happy to arrange accommodations. Please note that flights are not included in the price, but can be added in 2009. Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more flying from the same departure point. (IF)

Day 2: Arrival in Prague, Czech Republic
Upon arrival in Prague, we meet our tour leader and coach driver. A local guide will join us for a fascinating walking tour of Hradcany Castle, the Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral and stroll across the famous Charles Bridge to reach the Old Town Square. We’ll meet up for an evening welcome meal at our hotel tonight. (IF/D)

Day 3: Prague
After breakfast this morning we begin with a visit to Bethlehem Chapel, where Jan Hus heralded in the teachings of the Reformation. We will also tour Church of the Virgin Mary and Týn Church. Then we will visit the Old Jewish Cemetery and Museum including Pinkas Synagogue which houses children’s artwork from Theresienstadt. After some free time this afternoon a special treat awaits us this evening – a Czech folklore show including dinner with Czech specialties. Overnight in Prague. (B/D)

Day 4: Prague, Cesky Krumlov
Today we travel south to Cesky Krumlov to savor this historic gem of a town with a walking tour. We’ll sample local home-cooked meals with Christian Czechs at their church, then go see handicrafts, made the traditional ways. We will have some free time to explore this beautiful city before before dinner at our hotel this evening. Overnight in Cesky Krumlov area. (B/D)

Day 5: Vienna
Today we drive to beautiful Vienna, full of gorgeous baroque architecture, charm and history. We will have a city tour of the major sights of the city, the Belvedere Palace, the elegant Kärntner Ring, St. Stefan's Cathedral, the Lippizaner Museum and more. Later we have the option to visit Schönbrunn Palace, the beautiful palace of the Hapsburgs, with lovely gardens. We’ll dine at our hotel and this evening. We can experience some of the special music Vienna has to offer, with many optional live music performances available. B/D

Day 6: Salzburg
This morning we will enjoy a walking tour of Old Salzburg, visiting Mozart’s birthplace and strolling through Mirabell Gardens. We’ll tour the Salzburg Cathedral, the Getreidegasse, the market area, Peter’s Church and more. This evening we will have a Mozart Concert during dinner at the famous St. Peter’s Restaurant. Seated in Baroque opulence, with candles and linen, we’ll savor the cuisine of Mozart’s day. Superb musicians play some of his most famous compositions to round out a great day in Austria. We will overnight in Salzburg. B/D

Day 7: Bavarian Alps, Wieskirche, Neuschwanstein Castle, Oberammergau
We will have a beautiful drive en route to Bavaria, where we tour Neuschwanstein Castle, built for King Ludwig II. You’ve seen the pictures of this castle that inspired Disney, now we’ll experience its grandeur. We’ll then tour the Wieskirche, a historic Bavarian church, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will finish our exciting day with our arrival in Oberammergau, home to the world famous Passion Play, depicting the story of Christ, acted out for hundreds of years by the villagers. We’ll check into our hotel and have a delicious dinner, followed by a stroll through the village. B/D

Day 8: Oberammergau Passion Play
In 2010 we will be watching performance of the famous Passion Play, with excellent, pre-reserved seats. However, for 2008, 2009, there will still be lots to do and see. We start with a welcome and an escorted tour of the village by one of the Passion Play’s members. We will hear a talk on the Passion Play by a one of the play’s actors and hear their story of God’s faithfulness to their village. We’ll tour the theater and see the costumes, props, the Cross and even stand on the stage. The rest of the day will be at leisure to shop or explore locally on our own. There are optional activities for 2008, 2009: We can meet some local Passion Play performers at a social time with live traditional folk music and local traditional handicrafts and cuisine samplers, Bavarian folk dancing lessons are also available. Day 9: Munich
We’ll drive through Bavaria’s beautiful scenery to Munich. We’ll enjoy a pleasant walking tour of Munich’s old town sites and then have the afternoon free for shopping or independent sightseeing, or relaxing at our hotel. This evening we finish our fun tour with a farewell dinner with classic Bavarian cuisine and a live Bavarian folk show. We overnight in Munich’s city center. (B/D)

Day 10: Depart for home
Our tour director will escort us to the Munich Airport, through check-in and will take us to security, then it is “Aufedersein” and off for home. (B/IF)

All prices are calculated at the exchange rate in effect at the time of this quotation. Should currency fluctuations necessitate an adjustment in tour price the adjusted price will be reflected in the final invoice.

Written by David Houseley - who produced similar books in 1970,1980 and 1990, and Raymond Goodburn, the book is in lavish co lour with maps, photographs and biographies of the actors who took the leading roles. There is also an important Introduction by Otto Huber, Deputy Director of the Play who explains the thinking behind the radical changes which were made for 2000. Finally, there is a Synopsis of the Play, provided by Prof. Ingrid Shafer, the Official Translator of the Text into English.

What's not included in tour price?
  • Air transportation (available 10 months before departure)
  • Single supplement (subject to availability) of $615
  • Meals and beverages not identified in itinerary
  • Items of a personal nature, such as passports and visas. Passports must be valid for months beyond return date.
  • Passenger trip cancellation insurance (details sent with reservation form)
  • Gratuities for tour manager, and driver

Payment for the tour is in installments:

  • Deposit of $350 is due no later than April 10, 2008
  • Second deposit of $1,000 is due no later than February 1, 2009
  • Final payments will be due 120 days prior to departure.

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be in writing and the date of postmark will determine the amount of refund due.

  • From time of deposit to until 190 days prior to departure a $150 per person penalty will be charged for cancellation.
  • From 189-145 days prior to departure a $300 per person penalty will be charged for cancellation, plus any non refundable deposit, if applicable
  • 144-30 days prior to departure a $1,000 per person penalty will be charged for cancellation, plus any unrecoverable out of pocket expenses to ground suppliers, as well as any penalties imposed by airlines will be assessed. If anyone cancels but finds their own substitute up to 120 days prior to departure, only a $100 change fee will be assessed.
  • 29 days or less prior to departure-no refund.

Fellowship opportunities

While on tour, we can arrange for special speakers to come and speak to the group.

We can also arrange fellowship with English-speaking churches and you are assured of a warm welcome!

 

 

 


What are the accommodations like?

Our hotels are chosen for their quality, amenities and proximity to areas of interest. Whenever possible, we choose hotels in town centers, so that you are able to go off and explore in your free time. It may be necessary for us to substitute hotels for others of equal quality.
